NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania (NeighborWorks) was recently recognized for the success of its West Side Wonderland campaign with a 2024 Townie Award from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center (PDC). Presented in the Promotions & Marketing category, the award celebrates the outstanding efforts and achievements of NeighborWorks in promoting West Scranton neighborhood businesses during the winter season.
The PDC’s annual conference, held this year in York, Pennsylvania, is the state's premier event focused on community revitalization. With the theme "Crossroads of Community & Collaboration: Building Dynamic and Innovative Partnerships," the conference provided valuable insights on state and federal funding for active transportation improvements, event planning for economic impact, zoning, conflict management, and more.
“We are deeply appreciative of the recognition by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center of our West Side Wonderland campaign with a 2024 Townie Award,” said Todd Pousley, Director of Community Development at NeighborWorks. “The campaign’s success in bringing the community together and enhancing the vibrancy of West Scranton is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and the enthusiastic participation of our residents.”
Additionally, Miranda Pace, West Scranton Neighborhood Coordinator, presented at the Active Transportation Summit on the Safe Routes Partnership project through the Activating Communities program in West Scranton. Their session aimed to empower community leaders with knowledge, skills, and creativity for approaching safety improvements centered around active transportation. Participants engaged in interactive activities designed to foster stakeholder engagement and collaborative decision-making.
