Parker Dorsey, Community Program Assistant at NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania, recently graduated from the Leadership Lackawanna Core Program Class of 2024.
Established in 1982, Leadership Lackawanna is an affiliate of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce which aims to cultivate community leadership and professional development for individuals who live or work in Lackawanna County in Pennsylvania.
Over a ten-month course, participants in the Core Program gather once a month for leadership development training with a variety of local professionals and specialists. In addition to monthly training, participants spend additional time out of class working on community projects that benefit local non-profit organizations.
Throughout the program, Parker worked with other area professionals on projects across Lackawanna County that positively impacted local groups and organizations.
Parker worked in the Waverly Community House project group. The group had worked with the Waverly Community House this past year to refurbish the Scout Room, a versatile multipurpose space intended to be used for various community activities. The Waverly Community House is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to offering educational, recreational and cultural opportunities to individuals and families in the region and beyond.
"Completing the Leadership Lackawanna program has been an incredible journey," Dorsey said of his Leadership Lackawanna experience. "Being part of this program has not only expanded my leadership skills but also deepened my commitment to serving our community. The combination of insightful sessions and a hands-on community project provided invaluable experience. I am thrilled to join the ranks of NeighborWorks graduates from Leadership Lackawanna and look forward to leveraging these skills to make a lasting impact."
