NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania (NeighborWorks) will host its first-ever West Scranton Bike Rodeo on July 26, with a rain date of August 9, at Allen Park, 1111 Price Street, Scranton from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This family-friendly event aims to promote bike safety, education, and skills among the West Scranton youth.
The West Scranton Bike Rodeo is a free community event and will offer opportunities to build skills and knowledge for young bike riders. By collaborating with local partners such as PA Downtown Center, Lackawanna County Highway Safety, PennDOT, Senator Marty Flynn, and Anthracite Bike Coalition, NeighborWorks aims to provide a memorable experience filled with activities, resources and education.
Kids ages 2-8 are welcome to try a balance bike on a carefully crafted course. They will learn how to balance, turn, and learn basic rules of the road. Additionally, older or more skilled youth will have an opportunity to ride through an agility course designed to increase dexterity skills. Giveaways including helmets, bells, and lights will be available at the event while supplies last. The last 30 minutes will overlap with the Allen Park Concert Series, featuring the Brendan Brisk Band.
Miranda Pace, West Scranton Neighborhood Coordinator at NeighborWorks, said, "The West Scranton Bike Rodeo is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and learn about bike safety in a fun and engaging way. We invite everyone to bring their kids and invite their neighbors to foster the development of important skills."
