Robert H. Spitz Foundation supports NeighborWorks’ foreclosure fund

NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania (NeighborWorks) was awarded a $25,000 grant from The Robert H. Spitz Foundation to assist with its foreclosure intervention program, which provides financial assistance and housing counseling to Lackawanna County homeowners facing temporary financial hardship.

The NeighborWorks Foreclosure Fund will help homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments because of unexpected financial hardship. Through the fund, NeighborWorks will be able to provide direct assistance toward mortgage and utility arrears while connecting homeowners with HUD-certified housing counseling, budgeting support and other resources to help them regain financial stability and remain in their homes.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of the Robert H. Spitz Foundation,” said NeighborWorks President & CEO Shane Powers. “Their investment helps us continue providing the resources, guidance and support that local homeowners need to remain in their homes and build a stronger future.”

This investment will help NeighborWorks serve homeowners facing financial challenges before those challenges become a crisis. By providing assistance alongside personalized counseling and connections to additional community resources, the program will help homeowners maintain housing stability, avoid displacement and remain on a path toward long-term financial security.
